Uttar Pradesh leaders paid tributes to Dr. Ambedkar on Dalit icon’s death anniversary

Top Uttar Pradesh leaders paid tributes to Dalit icon and India’s first Law Minister Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, who headed the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution, on his death anniversary on Friday (December 6, 2024).

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cautioning people against such elements aiming to weaken the nation.

The U.P. CM alleged those showing copy of Constitution disrespected Dr. Ambedkar by attacking his work. “Those who are showing the ‘copy of the Constitution’ now tried to disrespect Babasaheb by attacking his original Constitution. We need to be cautious against elements aiming to weaken the nation,” Mr. Adityanath said, addressing function in remembrance of Dr. Ambedkar. 

Mr. Adityanath added other political parties did politics in the name of Dr. Ambedkar, but it is the BJP which fulfilled his vision of uplifting the downtrodden. “Both the State and Union government took various steps like establishment of Babasaheb’s ‘Panch Teerth’ to realise his legacy,” he said.

Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati hailed Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions as the architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice.

“On his death anniversary today, on behalf of all his followers living in the country and abroad, I offer my immense tributes to Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the true messiah of millions of poor, Dalits, tribals and other backward Bahujan’s of the country. Through the unique Constitution made for the country, Baba Saheb is always a ray of hope for the exploited and oppressed and lives in the hearts of the people. Governments should also properly implement his Constitution and work for the welfare of the Bahujans so that India becomes a great country free from poverty and unemployment, with peace, happiness, and prosperity,” Ms. Mayawati said in a statement. 

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav also paid tributes to Dr. Ambedkar.
