A teenage girl was allegedly gangraped in Orai area in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district while she was on her way to the hospital to see her ailing mother.

According to police, the incident took place on Thursday night when the girl, a Class 11 student, was going to the hospital where her father had taken her ailing mother the previous day.

The girl left home for the hospital at around 12 in the night, however, after walking some distance, she decided to head back as it was too dark.

Two unidentified persons started following her when she was on her way back home. They then abducted her, took her to a forest area and raped her. The accused threatened the girl and escaped.

The girl managed to reach home and told her family about the ordeal in the morning. An FIR was registered on a complaint of the victim’s father at Orai police station, Superintendent of Police, Yash Veer Singh said.

He said that the accused, both of whom are juveniles, have been arrested. The two men were reportedly traced via their Facebook profile photo.

According to reports, police said the girl recalled that when the two men were dragging her to the forest, one of the two men had called the other by his name. The rape survivor remembered his name but had no other information to share.

Someone then came up with the idea of checking out Facebook profiles of people by the name she remembered. Finally, she found one of them.
