Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has asserted that the Future City, the first net zero city proposed by the Telangana Government, will become a model for next generation urban development in the country.
Spans 765 sq.km. across 56 villages in seven mandals
The government is planning to establish Future City Development Authority to actively promote the planned development of a world class city that is not only sustainable, but aspires to emerge as the first net zero city in India. The Future City marks a transformative step in Telangana’s urban and industrial growth spanning 765 sq.km. across 56 villages in seven mandals.
Designed to boost economic activity
Strategically located between Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam highways, the ambitious project integrates smart urban infrastructure, sustainable industrial development and inclusive residential planning. Anchored by AI (artificial intelligence) city, Pharma and manufacturing clusters along with multimodal mobility and metro access, the Future City has been designed to boost economic activity, create employment opportunities and enhance quality of life.
“The Future City Development Authority will ensure seamless execution making this a model for next generation urban development in the country,” the Governor said in his address to the joint sitting of the State Legislature on Wednesday (March 12, 2025), at the commencement of the budget session.
