Sushant death case LIVE Updates: Rhea Chakraborty, Showik’s bail plea hearing underway

A special court is hearing Rhea Chakraborty’s bail plea today. The actress was on Tuesday arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for allegedly arranging drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor was found hanging at his Mumbai home on June 14. If found guilty, Rhea will face up to ten years in jail.

In her bail plea, Rhea Chakraborty has stated that she is innocent and accused the NCB of “falsely implicating” her in the case. She also stated that she was ‘forced into making self-incriminatory confessions’ on the day of her arrest.

The court is also hearing plea filed by Rhea’s brother Showik, who was arrested on September 4 by the NCB for his alleged involvement in the case.

After spending the night at Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) headquarters, Rhea Chakraborty was sent to Byculla Women’s prison on Wednesday morning. Indrani Mukerjea, who is undergoing trial for her daughter Sheena Bora’s murder case, is lodged in the same prison.

After three days of questioning, Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai on Tuesday in a drugs case linked to her boyfriend and actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The verdict was announced as the 28-year-old actress was produced before a court through video link following a medical examination. The NCB told the court that Rhea Chakraborty was confronted with all other accused including her brother Showik during her interrogation and facts in their statements were verified.

On September 8, the court rejected Rhea Chakraborty’s bail plea.

Before getting arrested, Rhea Chakraborty on Monday filed a complaint against Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters, Priyanka and Meetu, RML doctor Tarun Kumar, and others, for forging prescription, at Bandra Police Station. On the basis of the complaint, Bandra police filed an FIR against the aforementioned people. A case had been registered under section 420, 464, 465, 466, 468, 474, 306, 120B, 34 IPC and r/w Sec 8(c), 21, 22(A), 29 of the NDPS Act. The case has now been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation as per order of the Supreme Court.

Apart from the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau are carrying out their respective investigations in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
