The arrest of gangster Vikas Dubey, wanted in connection with the Kanpur ambush in which eight policemen were killed, from a temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh has raised several questions.
Vikas Dubey, who was on the run after the ambush on July 3, managed to give the slip for six days to Uttar Pradesh Police even as his aides were arrested or killed in encounters.
Elusive since the shootout at Bikru village in the Chaubeypur area of Kanpur, Vikas Dubey surfaced in Faridabad on Tuesday. But Vikas Dubey escaped before the place of his stay in Haryana was raided.
Security was beefed up in Delhi-NCR after speculations over his possible surrender. Later, Noida Film City, where most of the national TV channels are headquartered, was put on alert. This came after speculations that gangster Vikas Dubey could surrender before TV cameras to ensure he was not killed in an encounter.
The gangster, however, managed to cross the Uttar Pradesh border even when states neighbouring UP had been placed on alert.

According to sources, Vikay Dubey let the police know about his location in Ujjain, following which the Madhya Pradesh Police arrested him.
3. Why did he choose the Ujjain temple? Was he scared of encounter?
Vikas Dubey feared being killed in an encounter with five persons linked to him killed in separate police encounters since the Kanpur ambush. Is that why Vikas Dubey ‘surrendered’ in a temple?
4. How did Vikas Dubey manage to enter Madhya Pradesh amid high alert on state borders?
Vikas Dubey was last seen in Faridabad. But he gave a slip to the police before his place of stay was raided. With police on high alert in three state, how did Vikas Dubey reached Ujjain from Faridabad?

As per some reports, Vikas Dubey reached the Ujjain temple on Thursday morning. He then started shouting ‘Main Vikas Dubey hun’. A security guard then alerted the police.

There are photos of Vikas Dubey inside the temple premises. Who took these photos? It remains to be seen if some media organisations had been tipped-off about the ‘surrender’.

VIKAS DUBEY ARRESTED FROM MADHYA PRADESH
Gangster Vikas Dubey, wanted in connection with the Kanpur ambush in which eight policemen were killed, was arrested from Ujjain on Thursday.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra confirmed the development. He told reporters that Dubey is in the state police’s custody in Ujjain.
The minister, however, did not confirm if the dreaded gangster was nabbed from within or outside the Mahakal temple premises.
Meanwhile, two more aides of Dubey were gunned down in separate encounters in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police said.
Eight policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, were ambushed in Bikru village in the Chaubeypur area of Kanpur, where they had gone to arrest Vikas Dubey and fell to bullets fired from rooftops last Friday.
Five persons have so far been killed in separate police encounters since the Kanpur ambush.
