In view of the rising burden of kidney disease in India there is the need for timely diagnosis of the disease, clinical director and head of Nephrology and Transplant Services at Yashoda Hospitals Rajashekara Chakravarthy said.
He was speaking at an event titled ‘Celebrating Second Chances – Life with Kidney Transplant Patients’ organised by Yashoda Hospitals, in collaboration with Cheyutha Foundation for Organ Transplants, Care for Your Kidney Foundation, and Kidney Warriors Foundation, here on Sunday.
The event witnessed the participation of 285 attendees, including 280 kidney transplant recipients, dialysis patients, kidney donors, and dialysis technicians from across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Adding a multidisciplinary perspective, senior consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Venuthurla Ram Mohan Reddy, highlighted the bone complications frequently observed in kidney patients, underlining the necessity of maintaining bone health. Lead consultant of Vitreo-Retinal Services Ajit Babu Manji focused on the vulnerability of kidney patients to retinal diseases and advocated for regular eye examinations as part of routine care.
Speaking on the occasion, managing director of Yashoda Group of Hospitals G. S. Rao said: “Our success in kidney transplants and the comprehensive support we offer from diagnosis to rehabilitation reflect our commitment to patient empowerment and community awareness.”
