MG Gloster launch on October 8, here are the details

MG Motor India will launch the Gloster in the country on October 8. All set to be the automaker’s fourth product in India after the MG Hector Plus, the MG Hector and the MG ZS EV, the new MG Gloster will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour and the Mahindra Alturas G4. While the MG Gloster pre-bookings had opened last month for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh, we are expecting the MG Gloster price to be in the range of Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new MG Gloster gets a couple of diesel engine options — 2.0-litre turbo (163PS/375Nm) and 2.0-litre twin-turbo (218PS/480Nm). Both the engines come with a standard 8-speed AT. However, the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel mill has a 4WD drivetrain, in comparison to 2WD of the 2.0-litre turbo diesel motor. The SUV boasts of as many as seven drive modes, including Snow, Mud, Sand, Sport and Rock. The Gloster also features adaptive cruise control, land departure warning, front collision warning with automatic emergency braking and automatic parking assist.

The new MG Gloster is available in four variants — Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The Super and Smart trims are powered by the 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, while the Sharp and Savvy trims are equipped with the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel mill.

At 4,985mm in length, 1,926mm in width and 1,867mm in height, the MG Gloster is bigger than the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The magnanimous proportions translate into an impressive on-road presence. Among the notable exterior features of the Gloster are full-LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, dual-barrel twin tailpipes and 19-inch two-tone alloys. The SUV is being offered in four exterior colour options — Agate Red, Metal Black, Metal Ash and Warm White.

The MG Gloster’s cabin has no dearth of space. A 2,950mm long wheelbase, which is greater than that of the Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour and the Mahindra Alturas G4, means that there is ample room for the passengers in the six-seater as well as seven-seater configurations. Below are the variant-wise seating layouts in the new MG Gloster.

The cabin of the MG Gloster comes with creature comforts like 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12-speaker audio system, 8-inch MID, flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, 12-way power-adjustable driver seat, 8-way power-adjustable co-driver seat, wireless charging, TPMS and a panoramic sunroof. The i-Smart 2.0 connectivity technology in the Gloster offers more than 70 features.

MG Motor India is offering the My MG Shield personalised ownership package with the Gloster to take care of the after-sales requirements. The new MG Gloster gets a standard warranty of three years or 1 lakh km, three years of roadside assistance and three labour-free periodic services.
