Bollywood actor Sharad Kapoor has been accused him of inappropriate behaviour and unwelcome physical contact with a woman at his residence in the western suburbs of Mumbai. Following this, a case has been registered against him, the police confirmed on Saturday.
According to authorities, the alleged incident occurred earlier this week at Kapoor’s home in Khar. The 32-year-old complainant has alleged that Kapoor invited her to his residence under the guise of discussing a film project. Once there, he reportedly asked her to enter his bedroom, behaved inappropriately, and forcibly touched her.
Additionally, it is alleged that Kapoor sent the woman a message on WhatsApp after their meeting, using offensive language.
The woman stated in her complaint that she initially connected with Kapoor on Facebook and subsequently communicated with him through video calls, the official added.
Following the complaint, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Kapoor under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman through words, gestures, or actions) of the Indian Penal Code. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
