In a setback for the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar ahead of assembly election, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) has snapped its ties with the grand alliance.

HAM-S, led by Jitam Ram Manjhi, announced its move to end alliance with the Mahagathbandhan on Thursday. The decision was made public after the meeting of core committee of the party.

Party chief Jitam Ram Manjhi had reportedly been upset after his demand of a coordination committee to discuss seat-sharing among Grand Alliance partners was not met.

Danish Rizwan, party’s national spokesperson, told India Today, “A coordination committee of Mahagathbandhan was not formed despite our repeated demands. Though Rahul Gandhi had assured us that a coordination committee will be formed, but nothing happened.”

The term of the Bihar legislative assembly comes to an end on November 29 and polls are likely to he held sometime in October-November.

Several bypolls were recently postponed mainly due to coronavirus and rains. No fresh schedule has been announced as yet.
