India’s coronavirus tally crossed 65-lakh mark with the spike of 75,829 new infections in the last 24 hours, the Union health ministry said on Sunday

According to fresh update Sunday morning, India recorded 940 deaths, taking the national death toll to 1,01,782.

Total coronavirus cases in India now stands at 65,49,374, while active cases tally is at 9,37,625 active cases.

A total of 55,09,967 cured/discharged/migrated cases have been discharged as on Sunday morning, the Union health ministry said.

On Saturday, Maharashtra reported 14,348 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total count to 14,30,861, state health department said. With 278 more people succumbing to the infection, including 151 in the last 48 hours, the cumulative toll in the state mounted to 37,758.

Delhi recorded 2,258 fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the tally to over 2.87 lakh, while 34 more fatalities took the death toll to 5,472, authorities said.

This is the second day in a trot that the city reported less than 3,000 new cases. Authorities reported 2,920 new cases on Friday.

In West Bengal, the highest single-day spike of 3,340 new Covid-19 cases was reported, taking the tally to 2,66,974, according to a bulletin issued by the health department. 62 more patients died in West Bengal, following which the toll rose to 5,132, it said.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu on Saturday recorded 5,622 new Covid-19 cases taking the overall tally to 6,14,507 while the death toll jumped to 9,718 with 65 more people succumbing to the virus, the Health department said.
