India registered 83,883 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, including 1,043 new deaths. The spike has taken the total tally to 38,53,406 confirmed cases, including total 8,15,538 active cases and 68,584 deaths, according to the Union Ministry of Health.

The number of recoveries in India surged to 29,70,492 as 68,584 cases were reported discharged from coronavirus treatment on Thursday.
The recovery rate stands at 76.98% while the fatality rate is at 1.76%. The active cases constitute 21.26% of the total coronavirus confirmed cases.
Meanwhile, India tested a record 11 lakh samples for coronavirus on Wednesday, according to Indian Council for Medical Research.
