IMD predicts heavy rains in parts of Gujarat in next four days

The Indian Meteorological Department on Friday issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rains in parts of Gujarat over the next four days. The fishermen have been asked not to venture out to the sea.

The IMD Director-Gujarat Jayant Sarkar has said that a well-marked low pressure has developed in the Arabian Sea, which can cause heavy rains in parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra. Parts of these regions also received rain on Friday.

“In such a situation, the fishermen have been asked not to go into the sea. The number 3 signal has been hoisted at the port,” the IMD official said.

The number 3 signal indicates that the port is likely to face squalls with surface winds between 40-50 kmph.

According to the weather department, parts of South Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch will receive rainfall for four days. There is a possibility of heavy rains in South Gujarat especially in Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

IMD prediction for Gujarat

According to the meteorological forecast, light rain to moderate rains is likely on October 17 in Patan, Mahesana, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Porbandar, Kutch, Diu, while there will be heavy rains in Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli.

On October 18, there will be scattered rain in some areas of Saurashtra, Kutch, and Daman and Diu.

On October 19, Bharuch, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar and Kutch will receive light rain.

On October 20, light rain is predicted in Anand, Bharuch, Surat, Dwarka, Porbandar, Rajkot and Kutch regions. There is also a possibility of strong winds in some areas.
