Even as the news of Vikas Dubey’s encounter broke out, a petition has come up in the Supreme Court that sought protection for the gangster. The petitioner had demanded protection for Vikas Dubey saying several of his aides were killed in different “fake encounters” by the UP Police.
The petition in Supreme Court has said Vikas Dubey’s associates and aides were all “killed in fake encounters”. Citing the number of the encounters over the past few days in which many of his aides were killed, the Mumbai-based petitioner sought protection for the gangster.
The lawyer who filed the petition in Supreme Court also demanded that Vikas Dubey’s case should be transferred to CBI.
The petition has said, “Direct UP Police and government to safeguard the life of accused Vikas Dubey and ensure that he is not killed/encountered by police and complete security arrangement is made for his safe production in the concerned court from time to time and he is dealt with in accordance with law.”
The petitioner also an FIR be registered over the demolition of Vikas Dubey’s house and other properties by the UP Police along with the killings of his associates.
“Register an FIR in the incident of pulling down/demolishing the residential building, shopping mall of accused Vikas Dubey and so all his expensive cars/vehicles and various other movable/immovable properties with the help of bulldozer, JCB, Proclain machines and further killing of five co-accused, who were alleged to be involved in killing of eight policemen and giving the said killing colour of encounter,” said the petition.
However, even before this petition could be heard in court, Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter by the UP STF on Friday morning when the force was bringing him to Kanpur from Ujjain.
UP Police has said after a car in the police convoy overturned on the road, Vikas Dubey made an attempt to flee. He snatched a revolver from one of the policemen and open fire. Vikas Dubey was killed in retaliatory fire by the UP Police.
