After T20 WC heroics, Saurabh Netravalkar stars for Washington Freedom in MLC 2024

USA fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar continued his marvellous form in the Major League Cricket 2024 (MLC 2024) as he helped Washington Freedom win their first match of the tournament by beating MI New York on Saturday, July 6. The left-arm seamer picked up 3/24 in four overs as he dismissed Kieron Pollard (3 off 6), Rashid Khan (31 off 15) and Anrich Nortje (14 off 9).

As a result, MI were restricted to 154/9 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Washington were cruising for a win at 55/1 after 7.4 overs when rain came to interrupt the game, and they were adjudged as winners, being four runs ahead of the DLS par score at that stage.

Netravalkar has been making a rapid rise in the cricketing fraternity ever since his T20 World Cup heroics for USA. The 32-year-old finished as the highest wicket-taker for his side in the tournament with six wickets to his name from as many innings at an average of 20.83 and an economy of 6.63.

Netravalkar’s dream T20 World Cup campaign

The fast bowler rose to the limelight after defending 18 runs against Pakistan in the super over and helped his team register a historic win against the Asian side. He further dismissed Virat Kohli for a golden duck and Rohit Sharma during the game against India.

Apart from his cricketing achievements, Netravalkar has also been making headlines for his diverse profile. Notably, the left-arm seamer was born in Mumbai and played for India in the U-19 World Cup 2010. He later migrated to USA where he now works as a developer in Oracle.

According to his sister Nidhi, the cricketer even works in team hotel after playing matches for the country. The cricketer also loves to play the Ukulele in his free time. His Instagram profile is filled with videos of him playing the instrument and singing songs making him a true ‘all-rounder’ in life.
