After cyberattack on AIIMS, ICMR website faces 6,000 hacking attempts in 24 hours – ET HealthWorld

New Delhi: The website of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) faced around 6,000 hacking attempts over a span of 24 hours on November 30, about a week after online services of AIIMS-Delhi were crippled by a ransomware attack.

A government official said hacking attempts on ICMR’s website were allegedly made from IPs originating from Hong Kong .

“The ICMR website is safe. The site is hosted at National Informatics Centre (NIC) Data Centre. The firewall is from NIC and is regularly updated. The NIC was informed through email regarding a cyberattack and has reported that the attack was prevented. The ICMR has found its website in order,” said an official.

On December 4, Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi also faced a cyberattack in November. Online services provided by the hospital were affected for one day as technicians from NIC handled the situation swiftly.
