View: Every cloud has a silver lining. So has TikTok for Indian cloud giants

If TikTok’s US business is sold to one of the US public cloud giants , the buyer does not get to own everything. Such a buyer will merely operate the platform’s relations with its local customers in its cloud.

Cloud architecture makes de facto franchising relatively simple. Indian local cloud giants could acquire de facto franchises of this kind with aggressive political assistance from GoI. As proposed in the Data Protection Bill, GoI will attempt to force the platform services into local operations arrangements and justify it as protection of citizen privacy.
