TMC mouthpiece ‘Jago Bangla’ calls Congress a ‘war-weary’, ‘exhausted’ party

In a renewed attack on Congress, Trinamool Congress mouthpiece ‘Jago Bangla‘ on Wednesday called Congress is a party which is “war-weary” and “exhausted”, and claimed that Trinamool Congress is the “real Congress”. In earlier instances, WB CM Mamata Banerjee had called UPA as dead and Trinamool Congress has been attacking the Congress for its failure to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party‘s (BJP) progress. Countering the AITC’s claims, Rajya Sabha MP Pradip Bhattacharya said no alliance can exist without alliance with Congress.

‘Jago Bangla’, which is the Trinamool Congress’s mouthpiece, in a scathing attack on Congress, said that it was “war-weary ” and “exhausted” and the party failed to do what it should have done as the principal Opposition in Parliament. The newspaper, in its editorial piece, also claimed Trinamool Congress is the ‘real Congress’.

Even as Trinamool Congress is trying to expand its national footprint, its attack on Congress is becoming sharper. In its Wednesday edition, Trinamool Congress stated that the actual battle was fought against BJP and Trinamool Congress has won in Bengal, indicating the recently concluded assembly polls. “The fight has been successfully taken up by the Trinamool Congress in Bengal,” stated the newspaper.

“Congress was the main Opposition. The Congress is war-tired and suffers from internal factionalism. Trinamool has become the main Opposition. Trinamool is the real Congress,” the mouthpiece stated.

The Trinamool Congress, expanding its base to Goa, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Haryana, now has several former Congress leaders like Luizinho Falerio from Goa and Sushmita Dev from Assam under its fold.

Responding to criticism by Trinamool Congress, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pradip Bhattacharya said, “No alliance can come into place without Congress being a part of it. These are baseless claims and criticism.”

Notably, in another article in ‘Jago Bangla’ recently, it was mentioned that Banerjee, and not Rahul Gandhi, has emerged as the main face of the opposition against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
