The Bihar government has requested a CBI prode into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death

NEW DELHI: The Bihar government on Tuesday recommended a CBI probe into film actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The move comes after the Bihar police team, which has been investigating this case so far, could not allegedly get the cooperation of the Mumbai police.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar told reporters that Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey spoke to Sushant’s father KK Singh on Tuesday morning and the latter gave his consent for the CBI inquiry. “So, now we are recommending a CBI probe into the matter,” he told reporters in Patna.

DGP Pandey told ET that the police team camping in Mumbai may return to Patna soon.

It may be recalled that Rajput’s father KK Singh had lodged an FIR with Rajeev Nagar police station of Patna on July 25 in which he has named the late actor’s friend Rhea Chakaraborty and her relatives.

The FIR states that ₹15 crore had been transferred out of Sushant’s bank account to people he (Sushant) was not associated with. Sushant was found dead at his Bandra flat on June 14. The FIR has been registered under various sections (342, 380, 406, 420, 306, 506 and 120 (B)) of the Indian Penal Code. Soon after the registration of the case, Bihar police swung into action and sent a four-member team to Mumbai to investigate the case.
