Joy Prakash Majumdar slams BJP central leadership for party’s poor performance in state polls

In a major dishevel inside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and fresh jolt to the saffron party, two suspended BJP leaders, including former BJP state-Vice-President and spokesperson Joy Prakash Majumdar, came down heavily against the BJP central leadership and pointed at them for poor assembly election performance of the saffron party in Bengal. Majumdar claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is the major face of the Opposition now and the present BJP leadership is not prepared to fight against it.

Former BJP state-Vice-President Joy Prakash Majumdar on Tuesday claimed that central leaders were brought from outside, including Delhi and other Northern states, but they could not make any impact during assembly election and fared poorly. “There was not a proper election review following the poll debacle. Whenever a BJP leader tried to voice his comments, he was muted.”

Majumdar and Tiwari were sent showcause notices on Sunday after they participated in a meeting with MoS and Matua Mahasangh leader Shantanu Thakur in Bongaon. The showcause notice mentioned that they have been suspended until completion of investigation.

Taking potshots at the present BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar, Joy Prakash Majumdar said, The BJP President has only two years’ experience in politics. The state committee and district committees were formed based on the closeness of the leaders with BJP state leadership. Several District Presidents were selected, whom no one knew. Even LoP Suvendu Adhiakri and former state President Dilip Ghosh has said they don’t know the newly appointed district Presidents.”

Joy Prakash Majumdar also raised questions about formation of state and district committees and pointed out at the inability of the current leadership to form the committees. “There was no minority representation in the committees except a Christian face,” Joy Prakash Majumdar said, alleging the state and district committees were formed based on closeness with certain leaders.

“Whenever there is an attempt to form the new committees now, it has not been delayed in fear of further rebels. The state committee was dissolved. It was said that by February 10, the district committees will be formed. Seven Morcha Committees will also be formed,” he commented.

Joy Prakash Majumdar claimed that he did meet MoS Shantanu Thakur and “meeting with a MoS cannot be called anti-party stance”. Ritesh Tiwari questioned the validity of the showcause notices as the state committee has been dissolved.

Meanwhile, party Chief Spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya This incident is unfortunate and not expected in this situation when BJP has reached to the present level.

Asked about the issue, Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh claimed, “Whatever Joy Prakash Majumdar said is justified and it is true that Mamata Banerjee is the main face of the Opposition.”
