Things To Do Before Third Wave Hits. How building immunity, nutraceuticals & glutathione intake goes hand in hand? – ET HealthWorld

COVID-19 situation is somewhat stable right now and the country is recuperating from the impact caused by the second wave. The dip in numbers has come as a relief, but experts have rung the disquiet bells of a possible third wave that seems to be inevitable. Leading researchers and healthcare experts speculate that the third wave can be more severe and may affect children unlike before. On one hand efforts are being done to quickly vaccinate the majority of the population, on the other the virus is mutating continuously.

It is always better to prepare than panic. A lot has been witnessed and learnt through the couple of waves and we now shall be in a better position to prepare for the next. An optimally functioning immune system remains the prime weapon at hand against the virus. Over the last year everyone has understood how critical our immune health is and how it offers protection to those 80% who remain asymptomatic or get mild symptoms even if a virus gets through. No one can afford to be negligent about this fact and we all shall continue to adopt the “Eat Right, Exercise and Enjoy Life (fitting lifestyle)” formula. Vaccinated or not, immunity remains the true protector in this pandemic.

Role of vitamins like Vitamin C and D minerals like zinc and selenium and antioxidants such as glutathione is well established as immunity boosters. A balanced diet and sun exposure provide them in adequate amounts. However, taking supplements to ensure you stay away from deficiencies is another wise option. Many supplements now available help fulfill the daily requirements of the immune ingredients.

Glutathione particularly, goes beyond immunity. It is known as the master anti-oxidants and is known for its potent liver protection. Drugs which are normally prescribed for treating infections including Covid-19 are toxic to the liver and hence glutathione adds immense benefits when consumed regularly. After all, a healthy liver is key to healthy body function.

Glutathione is also an essential molecule to ensure lung health. In Covid-19 infections, glutathione levels in lungs deplete drastically leaving them exposed to the viral assaults. Couple of reports have underlined the association of low glutathione levels with more severe disease outcomes. The anti-inflammatory action of glutathione helps control progression of the disease and restricts the damage caused to different organs. Its muscle repair action helps regain the muscle power faster and thus supports faster recovery. Adding glutathione to the daily supplement regime hence shall add tremendous value.

We don’t know when exactly the pandemic is going to end. Our efforts are on, but the virus is smart. We shall not leave any stone unturned to outsmart it. Abiding by the basic rules of safety and social distancing individually is of paramount importance. Use of masks, sanitizers and hygiene practices shall be followed with due seriousness as we are entering again in the unlock phase. Try your best to restrict the virus from entering your home but also keep the plan of action ready even if it enters. The doctor to whom you would refer to whenever relevant symptoms appear to you or to any family member and the covid facilities nearby should be identified. Speak with those who were affected and learn from their experiences. Special precautions are to be taken for little ones who are isolated for more than a year. Do not forget, they are not vaccinated and hence they are vulnerable.

Whether a third wave will hit us or not? When will it hit? What will be the intensity? Predictions are many but it is hard to achieve accuracy in predictions. Wisely, we need to prepare for the worst. And certainly, we are well equipped to deter it firmly.
